Anyone can boil eggs, right? No, boiling eggs is a relatively difficult art, and how long to boil eggs is a matter of debate. As usual, the answer is … it depends. The parameters to take into account are mainly the size of the egg and how hard you want it. Then there’s the water, the stove’s heating and heat and other things. And finally, how do you want your egg? So how long do you boil eggs?

Here’s a list of how long to cook eggs:

Small egg 50 grams or less:

  • Soldered 6 minutes
  • Medium cook – 8 minutes
  • Hard-boiled – 10 minutes

Medium egg of about 60 grams:

  • Soldered 7 minutes
  • Medium cook – 9 minutes
  • Hard-boiled – 11 minutes

Large egg over 70 grams:

  • Soldered 8 minutes
  • Medium cooking – 10 minutes
  • Hard-boiled – 12 minutes

Exactly how long should you boil an egg?

There is no exact answer to this question. But with the times and sizes above and pre-boiled water, it’s hard to fail. To cook your egg, simply follow these 4 steps:

  1. Boiling your water takes different amounts of time on different stoves and in different pots.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and gently add the eggs so they don’t crack.
  3. Take time according to the table above.
  4. Remove the pan from the stove and rinse the eggs with cold water, let them stand and cool for 2 minutes.

How long should you cook hard-boiled eggs?

Most commonly, we buy medium-sized eggs in the shops, and these weigh about 60 grams each. If you pre-boil your water and gently drop the egg into simmering water, you should let it boil for 11 minutes to become hard-boiled. If you feel it’s too tricky, there are special egg timers, which you put in the water to clearly see if your egg is loose, medium or hard-boiled. Good luck!
